Federal Trade Commission

With almost 1,100 employees, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has enforcement, regulatory, and administrative responsibilities under a variety of consumer protection laws affecting virtually every area of commerce.

The FTC works to protect consumers against unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent practices in the marketplace. It conducts investigations, develops rules to protect consumers, and educates consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities. The FTC also collects complaints about consumer fraud and makes them available to law enforcement agencies across the country.
